Cardiovascular fitness
The ability to exercise your whole body for long periods of time
Muscular strength
The amount of force a muscle can exert against a resistance
Muscular endurance
The ability to use voluntary muscles repeatedly without getting tired
Flexibility
The range of motion of your joints
Body composition
The percentage of body weight that is muscle, fat or bone
Why is it important to have a healthy BMI(body mass index)
Its important because it can reduce the chances of you gettting diseases such as diabetes and it’s also important that fat puts added strain on your muscles and joints making you prone the injury
In order of relevance outline which helath related components of fitness are most important to boxer
1.muscular enduarnce because you are constantly using your arms to block parry and through puches over long periods of time and if your arms get tired quickly you will get battered due to not being able to through punches and wont block as well.
2.Muscular strength you want some power behind you punches because if you have pillow hands you wont exert any damage and your opponent will march through you punches easily
3.Cardiovascular fitness because if you cant exercise for long periods of time you will get picked apart especially if its a professional fight for 8,10 ans 12 rounds straight
4.Flexibility is still very important because you need to be able to dodge and weave out of the way of punches
- Body compostion you cant be too overweight but still dont need to be in perfect shape because with more fat means more weight behind punches.
