What are the 8 different types of injuries
Dislocation, fracture, abrasions, concussion, torn cartilage, strain, sprain, soft tissue injury
Soft tissue injury
Where two bones meet, prone injury, tear or overstreched, torn
Sprains
A damaged ligament, twisted or overstreched ankle, twisted past joint range
Strains
A twist, tear or overstreched muscle or tendon, most common in hamstrings, overuse
Torn cartilage
Firm elastic substance, absorbs impact on bones, reduces friction during sports, tears at joint
Fractures
Broken bone or cracked bone,
Dislocations
Joint forced out of position, hard blow to bone and joint
Abrasions
Graze caused by friction on the skin, from tackle or falling in game
Concussion
Impact to the head, blow to the head
5 injury prevention
Correct application of principal of training, correct application to the rules, use of appropriate clothing, checking equipmengpt and facilities, use of warm up and cool down
What does RICE stand for
Rest, ice, compression, elevation
Ligaments
Elastic fibres that join bone to bone
Tendons
Non elastic fibres that attach muscle to bone
