A

CNS: Fatigue, HA, Dizziness, memory loss, insomnia, disorientation
CV: Arrhythmias & hypotension
Pulmonary: bronchospasm, cough, laryngospasm, pulmonary edema
GI effects: N & V, diarrhea
GU effects: Impotence, hypoglycemia, rash

What are the nursing implications?

A

Do not stop abruptly (can cause MI, stroke, or arrthymias)
Ineffective clearance r/t lack of bronchodilating effects
Hx: contraindication/cautions
CNS: cardiac, respiratory, abdominal, urinary, perfusion
Vitals, ECG
Labs: electrolytes, renal/hepatic function, glucose
Take apical pulse; hold if below 60
Monitor blood glucose
Lifestyle changes
change position slowly
Do not crush extended-release formulations
