What types of chemicals do cigarettes have that are bad for you?

Nicotine, carbon monoxide, tar.

What does tar do to affect the body?
A
Tar causes cancer and forms a sticky layer inside the lungs. It also causes tooth decay.

What does nicotine do?
A
Nicotine enters your blood and goes to your brain. It makes you think you like cigarettes and you want more, thus leading to addiction and cancer.

What does carbon monoxide do?
A
Carbon monoxide enters your alveoli and gets replaced instead of oxygen, it enters your blood and can do serious tissue damage or death. Large amounts can go into you in minutes and cause you to suffocate and lose consciousness.
