Pineal gland
Secretes melatonin in response to light input, to set the biological clock (sleep/wake rhythms)
Thymus
Secretes hormones that cause maturation of T cells - WBCs critical to immune function
Ovaries
Secretes estrogen and progesterone (and relaxin) to regulate the female reproductive cycle, maintain pregnancy, prepare for lactation & help develop female secondary sex characteristics
Testes
Secrete testosterone to regulate spermatogenesis and promote the development of male secondary sex characteristics
Skin
Secrete a hormone that helps the production of the active form of Vitamin D.
GI tract
Secretes hormones that stimulate the secretion of pancreatic juice and gastric juice
Placenta
Secrete hormones that help maintain pregnancy and prepare for lactation
Kidneys
Secrete renin to raise BP through the RAA pathway. Also, secrete EPO to regulate erythropoiesis
Heart
Secrete ANP in response to hypertension. ANP acts to lower blood pressure
Adipose Tissue
Secretes leptin, which suppresses appetite
