A

Maternal

  • Pre-existing substances

Foetal

  • Infections
  • Chromosomal
  • Major malfunctions

Placental

  • multiple pregnancies
  • Pre-eclampsia
  • Placental vascular thrombosis or infarction
  • poor implantation
  • malformations
  • “placental insufficiency”
