  1. Light sleep : breathing + heart rate slows down (1-7 mins)
  2. Sleep Swindles: muscle tension + body temp decreases (~20mins)
  3. Begin showing delta wave patterns (waves are large and slow)
  4. Deep sleep: body is extremely relaxed respiration+blood flow to the brain decreases
