Skin Flashcards
What is Protopic and what is its indication
Tacrolimus - primarily indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (eczema)
How should protopic be applied
For initial treatment, Protopic is typically applied twice a day (morning and evening).
Once symptoms improve, your doctor may adjust the treatment to once a day or as a maintenance therapy to prevent flare-ups.
Make sure to avoid getting it in your eyes, nose, or mouth.
Additional Notes:
Avoid sunlight and tanning beds: Limit sun exposure on treated areas, as Protopic may increase skin sensitivity to sunlight.
Do not apply to infected skin: If you have a skin infection at the affected area, consult your healthcare provider before using Protopic.
What is enstilar Foam?
Enstilar is a foam-based topical medication used to treat plaque psoriasis in adults. It combines two active ingredients: calcipotriene (a vitamin D analog) and betamethasone dipropionate (a potent corticosteroid).
Apply once daily: Usually recommended for up to 4 weeks or as directed by a healthcare provider.
What is trimovate ?
Trimovate is a topical cream that contains three active ingredients:
Clobetasone butyrate: A mild corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and itching.
Oxytetracycline: An antibiotic that helps treat bacterial infections on the skin.
Nystatin: An antifungal agent that treats fungal infections.
Indications:
Inflammatory skin conditions: Trimovate is used to treat skin conditions that involve both inflammation (such as eczema or dermatitis) and infection, which could be bacterial or fungal.
Infected eczema or dermatitis: It’s especially useful when the skin condition is complicated by a secondary infection caused by bacteria or fungi.
