What is the function of the Skeletal system?
To keep us standing up and to allow movement.
What is the structure of the Skeletal system/
There are two structural components to the skeleton and they are;
- The Axial; which consists of the bones that form the axis of the body and support and protect the organs of the head, neck and trunk.
- The Appendicular; which is composed of bones that anchor the appendages to the axial skeleton (limbs)
What is the role of the skeletal system?
To protect organs.
What are three bones that start with a ‘C’
Cranium, Coccyx, Clavicle
What are two bones that start with the letter ‘S’
Sacrum, Scapular.
What are the three sections of the spine?
Cervical vertebrae (neck) Thoracic vertebrae (middle) Lumber vertebrae (lower)
What is the jaw called?
Mandible
What are the bones in the arm?
Humorous, Ulna, Radius (in line with thumb)
What are the bones of the leg?
Femur, Tibia, Fibular (little)
What are the wrists and hands called?
Carpels, Metacarpals, Phalanges.
What are the bones in the ankle and foot called?
Tarsals, Metatarsals, Phalanges.
What are the bones in the chest?
Ribs and Sternum.
What is the bone in the knee?
Patella.
What are the three main types joints?
Fixed, Synovial, Cartilaginous
