Complex Carbohydrates.
What are some examples of complex carbohydrates?
Wholemeal bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, dried beans and peas and fruit.
In athletic events, what type of energy is used in short-burst, high-intensity events?
Carbohydrates provide 100% of your energy.
In athletic events, what type of energy is used for longer events?
Carbohydrates and fats.
What happens when the supply of carbohydrates run out?
Athletes become fatigues and their performance suffers.
What is wrong with relying purely on carbohydrates?
The body can only hold a limited amount as glycogen, and the body can use it sparingly but when it runs out, athletes become fatigued.
