Respiratory System Flashcards
Body Systems
What is the main function of the Respiratory system?
To supply the body with oxygen.
How does the respiratory system get to the rest of the body?
Through the gas exchange and hands the oxygen to the circulatory system and collects the Carbon dioxide.
How many main parts of the respiratory system are there?
11
What are the pain parts in order?
Nose, Mouth, Pharynx, Larynx, Trachea, Lungs, Right & Left Bronchus, Bronchial, Aveoli, Diaphragm.
What do the Nose and Mouth do?
Take in the oxygen from the air and release the carbon dioxide.
Where does the gas exchange occur?
Alveoli / Lungs
What is the function of the pharynx?
Connecting the nose and mouth to the larynx.
What is the function of the larynx?
Allowing air to pass through it while keeping food and drink from blocking the airway.
What is the function of the trachea?
Connecting the pharynx and larynx to allow the passage of air.
What is the function of the lungs?
To process the gas exchange. oxygen incoming are enters the blood, and carbon dioxide (a waste gas) away.
What is the function of the Right & Left Bronchus?
To take air from the trachea to the left lung.
What is the function of the Bronchial?
Ensured that incoming air is supplies to each Alvealus.
What is the function of the Alveoli?
Tiny sacks in our lungs that allow oxygen and carbon dioxide to move between the lungs and blood stream.
What is the function of the Diaphragm?
Separates the heart and lungs from the abdominal, assists in pumping carbon dioxide out of the blood and pulling in oxygen through contracting and relaxing.
