Plane square edge
What does PAR refer to?
Refers to timber which is planed (smoothened) on all sides, but will have rounded edges to make it safer and easier to handle.
Give examples of PAR timber?
Constructional timber, such as for studwork
What does PSE refer to?
Refers to timber which is planed (smoothened) on all sides, but will have square edges.
Give examples of PSE timber?
Joinery timber, often only available in long lengths (1.8 metres).
What size is timber sold in?
Sawn size (even if timber has been plane e.g. if you buy 100 x 50 PSE, it will in reality measure 96mm x 47mm)
What is an important measurement, which a deciding factor of the price of Timber?
Cross-sectional area
How do you convert from inches to milimetres?
1’ = 25mm

height x width of cross-section

Measuring from one side of the circle to the other

- They vary in thickness from 1mm, used for modelling
