Means that member states have the freedom to make their own choices on certain matters
What is Hard vs Soft Brexit?
- Hard Brexit: UK leaves the EU and doesn’t have any of the 4 freedoms
- Soft Brexit: UK leaves the EU, and would still have had free movement of goods but not free movement of people
What is “The ‘push-pull’ model of migration”?
- Push: Things in your home country that make you want to leave (like lack of jobs or safety).
- Pull: Things in another EU country that attract you (like better jobs or a higher quality of life)
What is Mutual recognition?
Means that one member state accepts and recognizes the validity of another member state’s standards, rules, or regulations
