Talks between employers and workers , Influencing EU policies related to employment and social matters.
What is Pluralism?
Various interest groups, such as businesses, NGOs, and unions, have the freedom to voice their opinions and influence EU policies
What is elitism?
political leaders or economic elites, holds significant power and shapes decision-making within the European Union.
What is Spitzenkanditat?
Refer to the lead candidate of a political party in European Parliament elections
What does the European Parliament do?
- Reads EC law proposals – may suggest amendments.
- It approves the appointment of Commission President.
- It approves the appointment of Commissioners after public hearings.
- It questions the Council and Commission.
- It can dismiss the whole Commission.
Why is EU NOT a state?
countries want to sustain its sovereignty and have their own natinal power
Ordinary legislative procedure between - EP and the Council
Neither institutions may adopt legislations without others’s agreement.
What is Direct effect?
certain EU laws can be applied directly by individuals and national courts, even without the need for national legislation
