What is the purpose of a silent review?
To mentally prepare for an unprepared emergency that may occur during critical phases of flight
When should you do a silent review
Take off (after calling “CABIN SECURE” until landing gear retracts)
Landing (Final approach signal ‘2 chimes’ until A/C lands and clears active runway)
What do you during a silent review?
- seated with shoulder harness and lap belt securely fastened
- adopt the appropriate brace position
- no communication to passengers
- mentally focus on silent review
What points need to be covered during a silent review?
- brace position
- operation of exits
- location of nearest ABP
- location of Special Attention passengers
- location of emergency equipment
- commands
- evacuation
Brace Position
➢ Am I properly secured in my jump seat?
➢ Am I in my proper brace position?
➢ If you are not secure, you won’t be able to safely assist the
passengers in an evacuation

➢ Assess inside and outside conditions before opening the exit(s).

➢ Blocked exit procedure if your primary exit is blocked
