what is SIADH?
excessive production & release of ADG despite changes in serum osmolarity & blood volume

SIADH causes
-lung cancer (metastasized)
-damaged hypothalamus or pituitary gland
-infection (PNA, meningitis, pneumonia)
-central neuro issues (stroke, GB)
-drugs (chemo, nicotine, smoking)
SIADH symptoms
-urine retention (fluid overload)
-hyponatremia
-weight gain, JVD
-hypertension
-tachycardia
-confusion (cerebral edema)
-seizures (b/c low sodium)
-anorexia
signs of hyponatremia if NA = 115-120
-anorexia
-nausea
-vomiting
-headache
-irritability
-disorientation
-muscle cramps
-weakness
signs of hypernatremia if <115
-psychosis
-gait disturbances
-muscle twitching
-seizures
-coma
SIADH assessment
-neuro trauma
-brain swelling, hyponatremia
-weight gain, JVD
-issues w/confusion
-1L-1.5L restriction
SIADH medical treatments
-diuretics, watch K+ levels
-hypertonic solutions, labs every 6 hrs
-Declomycin
Declomycin
-don’t give Ca2+ containing foods
-can trigger DI
