Shoulder Superficial Back Flashcards
Action of fibers of trap?
Upper: elevate scap
Middle: retract scap
Lower: depress scap
Ipsilateral contraction of trapezius?
Laterally flexes head and cervical vertebrae.
Bilateral contraction of upper fibers of traps?
Extends the head.
Spinal levels of trap?
C3, C4, spinal part of cranial nerve XI
Innervation of trap?
Motor via spinal acccessory (XI) and prorioception via C3 and C4
Origin and insertion of trapezius.
Origin: medial part of superior nuchal line, EOP, lig nuchae, and SP’s of C7-T12.
Insertion: lateral 1/3 of clavicle, scapular spine, and acromion process
Origin and insertion of lat Dorsi muscle?
Origin: thoracolumbar fascia, SPs of lower 6 TV and all 5 LV, sacrum, iliac crest and lower 3-4 ribs.
Insertion: floor of intertubucular groove.
What innervates lat dorsi?
Thoracodorsal nerve.
Actions of lat dorsi muscle?
Adduction, extension, medial rotation of humerus
Spinal levels of lat dorsi?
C6/7/8
Rhomboid muscles actions?
Retract scap, elevate medial border of scap, downward rotation of scapula.
Spinal levels of rhomboid muscles?
C4/5
What innervates rhomboid muscles?
Dorsal scapular nerve
Origin and insertion of rhomboid major?
Origin: SPs of T2-T5
Insertion: medial border of scap between spine and inferior angle of scap
Origin and insertion of rhomboid minor?
Origin: SPs of C7-T1
Insertion: between ROSOS and superior angle of scap above rhomboid major
Levatore scapulae origin and insertion?
Origin: posterior tubercles of TPs of C1-C3/4
Insertion: superior angle of scap
Innervation of lev scap?
Dorsal scapular nerve and ventral rami of C3/4
Spinal levels of lev scap?
C3/4/5
Actions of lev scap?
Downward rotation of scapula, elevate and retract scap with trap, laterally flexes neck IF SCAPULA IS FIXED
