Muscles Of Shoulder Flashcards
What are the rotator cuff muscles?
Subscapularis
Supraspinatus
Infraspinatus
Teres minor
Origin and insertion of deltoid?
Origin: lateral 1/3 of clavicle (anterior head), acromion (middle), and spine of scap (posterior head)
Insertion: deltoid tuberosity on humerus
What innervates deltoid muscle?
Axillary nerve.
Actions of deltoid muscle?
Abduction after first 15 degrees.
Anterior head flexes and medially rotates humerus.
Posterior head extends and laterally rotates humerus.
Origin and insertion of subscap?
Origin: subscap fossa
Insertion: lesser tubercle of humerus
Innervation of subscap?
Upper and lower subscapuluar nerve
Actions of subscap?
Medial rotation of humerus.
Origin and insertion of supraspinatus?
Origin: supraspinous fossa
Insertion: superior facet of greater tubercle
Innervation of supraspinatus?
Suprascapular nerve
Action of supraspinatus?
Initiates abduction of humerus at glenohumeral joint.
Laterally rotates the humerus when decelerating the arm in throwing motion.
Origin and insertion of infraspinatus?
Origin: infraspinous fossa
Insertion: middle facet of greater tubercle
Innervation of intraspinatous?
Suprascapular nerve
Action of infraspinatus?
Lateral rotation of humerus
Origin and insertion of teres minor?
Origin: upper part of lateral border of scap
Insertion: inferior facet of greater tubercle
Innervation of teres minor?
Axillary nerve
