Shock Flashcards
Glucose in early stage
Increased
Which labs are increased
lactic acid, potassium, BUN/creatinine, Hct/Hgb (if dehydrated or fluid shift)
Which labs decrease
PaO2, pH, Hct/Hgb (if hemorrhage)
Urine output
Decreased because your body is trying to hold onto fluid. Urine will be very concentrated.
Deep tendon reflexes
decreased or absent
CVP/PAWP
2-8/6-12
When do you start vasoconstictors?
When CVP is at 8-12
When do you give vasodilators
Only in cardiogenic shock. Helps decrease afterload/preload
drugs for cardiogenic shock
vasodilators, diuretics, beta blockers, inotropes
Causes of relative hypovolemic shock
bowel obstruction, burn, ruptured spleen, sepsis, pancreatitis
Treatment of hypovolemic shock
no drugs, replace circulating volume
Drugs for anaphylactic shock
epi, antihistamines, bronchodilators, fluid resuscitation with colloids
s/s of 2nd phase of septic shock (aka hypodynamic)
skin cool, mottled, low temp, low BP
Possible causes of obstructive shock
tamponade, tension pnuemo, PE, ect
First system to show s/s of SIRS/MODS
Respiratory
