4
Q
Procedure
A
- Put into FMRI
- Inside, presented with word cues on screen
- Words were miscellaneous, such as ‘writing, circle, noise’
- In addition to word, the word Summer or September was projected next to it
- Done so that participants link word to either summer holidays or events of 9/11
5
Q
Results and conclusion
A
Only half of participants reported FBM of event
- Ones who did report also recalled more specific details
Closer to event: higher amygdala activation when recalling event than recalling summer
Farther from event: same for both
Strength of amygdala activation correlates with FBM. Provides biological support of FBM: Personal experience critical to engage parts of brain responsible for vividness of FBM
