- given practice list to familiarize with procedure
- 10 lists of 7 letters that did not sound similar
( 2 conditions: EXP: asked to continuously repeat 1, 2, while viewing list. CON: no articulatory suppression task) - after each list, asked to recall in order letters were presented
- scored on accuracy of recall

- mean accuracy for EXP: 45%
- mean accuracy for CON: 76%
SD very similar 0.13 con, 0.14 exp
Supports MSM - articulatory suppression preventing rehearsal in phonological loop causing overload
