Life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by dysregulated host response to infection
Septic shock
Circulatory, cellular and metabolic abnormalities are associated with a greater risk of mortality than sepsis alone

Altered mentation
Systolic BP <100
Red flag criteria
Responds only to voice or pain or unresponsive
Acute confusional state
Systolic BP <90
HR >130
RR >25
Need oxygen to keep sats >92%
Non-blanching rash, mottled/ ashen/ cyanotic
Not passed urine in last 18h
Lactate >2
Recent chemotherapy
Amber flag criteria
Relatives concerned about mental status
Acute deterioration in functional ability
Immunocompromised
Trauma/ surgery/ procedure in last.6 months
RR 21-24
Systolic BP 91-100
HR 91-130 or new dysrhythmia
Not passed urine in last 12-18 hours
Temp <36
Clinical signs of wound, device or skin infection
Sepsis 6
Administer oxygen
Take blood cultures
Give broad-spectrum antibiotics
Give IV fluid challenge
Measure serum lactate
Measure accurate hourly urine output
