What kind of sentence is a declarative sentence?
It makes a sentence and ends with a period (full stop).
Give an example of a declarative sentence.
The sky is blue.
What type of sentence is an imperative sentence?
It gives a command and ends with a period or an exclamation point.
Give an example of an imperative sentence.
Come here now!
What type of sentence is an interrogative sentence?
It asks a question and ends with a question mark.

What type of sentence is an exclamatory sentence?
It expresses strong emotion and ends with an exclamation point.

A sentence can be divided into 2 parts. What are they?
The subject and predicate.
What is the subject of a sentence?
It tells who or what the sentence is about. For example: God called to Adam. God is the subject.
What is the predicate of a sentence?
It is what is being said about the subject. A predicate will always contain a verb. For example, Adam ate the fruit. “Ate the fruit” is the predicate.
What is a compound subject?
When there are 2 or more subjects in the sentence.
Example: Alfred and James are playing on their tablet.
Alfred and James are the compound subject
What is a compound predicate?
A compound predicate tells us 2 or more things about the same subject. There is only one subject in a compound predicate.
Example: Dwayne finished his homework and was waiting for me.
What is a compound sentence?
A compound sentence joins two or more independent clauses. It joins them using a comma and a coordinating conjuction.
Example: It was getting late, so they put on their pajamas.
