  2. Never exert pressure on or manipulate the eye
  3. If part of the eye is exposed, apply moist, sterile dressing and eye shield

  1. Irrigate with saline
    - flush from the nose outward
  2. Never attempt to remove an object on the cornea
    * *do not remove objects with fingers, use a moist q-tip**

  2. Burns corneas

  1. No, leave in place unless there was a chemical burn
    * -trying to remove them can cause cornea damage*
  2. Irrigation or patient may remove them
  3. If there is no eye function ask patient if they have an artificial eye

  4. -Objects inserted in nose and freely moveable can be removed
    - Impaled objects get bulky dressing

  1. Lean forward. Pinch nostrils and hold
  2. Blood is an irritant to the stomach
  3. Hypertensive

What is retinal detachtment? What can it lead to? Why?

  1. **When the retina detatches from the underlying choroid and sclera. **
  2. Blindness
  3. The retina is nourished from blood vessels between it and the sclera (Choroid). When the retina detatches, the nerve endings are not nourished
