Seminal Vesicles Flashcards
Location of seminal vesicles
They are a paired organ found in the true pelvis. In to the level of the pelvic brim. Run obliquely on the syp/inf axis and lateral to midline and in the post section of the true pelvis. Directly connected to route of the transport of semen, they can be found at the terminal section of the left and right vas deferens.
Size, Shape, Appearance of Seminal Vesicles
Coiled/foiled appearance with distinct lobular surface. 13mL volume. 5-8cm long and ~3-5cm diameter. Running parallel to ampullae of vas deferens. Final part of internal ductal network. Forms at inf part of prostate where it merges with ampullae of vas deferens to form ejaculatory duct.
Relations of Seminal Vesicles
Sup = ureter Inf = ejaculatory ducts Anteriomedial = prostate Ant = bladder Post = rectum Medial = ampullae of vas deferens Lat = pelvic bones
Blood Supply of Seminal Vesicles
Supply - inferior vesicle artery
Drainage from inferior vesicle plexus
Lymphatic Drainage
internal iliac chains but some is possible via external iliac nodes before draining to common iliac nodes.
