How will a 2nd alarm dispatch playout from a communications perspective

A
  • The dispatcher will use the station alerting system and a channel not being used for the incident
  • If necessary have on air units switch to appropriate channel before dispatching
  • Crews will acknowledge the dispatch on the dispatch channel then switch to the operational channel and monitor
  • Immediately following the dispatch, the dispatcher will return to the operational channel of the call and inform the IC which vehicles are responding
  • Crews will not transmit on the operational channel until contacted by the IC or they arrive on scene
