The plain view doctrine applies to parole, as we’re law enforcement. So I don’t need a supervisors permission to arrest if something is in plain view. Just be able to articulate it

This is our general standard needed to conduct a search. With this, u can call up a supervisor inform them of the situation and see what u can do. Again be able to articulate it and this’ll be the case for shit that’s not in plain view. If it’s exigent and u can’t call a supervisor, then take care of business, and be able to articulate it after the fact. But you’d be able to search them, anything in their room (unless it’s clearly not theirs), or anything in common area(unless it’s clearly someone else’s)

Can I pat down a parolee SOLEY for officer safety in the beginning of a visit

Yes but I need reasonable suspicion to do it(I.e. a bulge) and document it. Officer safety is first. I can’t just do it for the hell of it. But a parolee is subject to a protective pat down frisk for weapons at any time

Where can I search with reasonable suspicion?

The parolees person, bedroom, and common rooms. Not others’ personal rooms unless they sign a consent form
