Q

Describe the properties of atoms

A

1)Protons and neutrons have more mass than electrons.

2) Protons and neutrons have same mass

3) Protons have a positive electrical charge

4) Neutrons have no electrical charge

5
Q

Describe the structure of Ernest Rutherford’s atoms.

A

The atom has a positively charged central part(nucleus). The electrons are distriputed around muscles. Mass of an atom is concentrated at nucleus. Compared with total volume of an atom, the volume of nucleus is meager

Q

Describe what is weather

A

Weather is a state of the atmosphere, that changes from minutes to minutes, hour to hour, day to day or week to week.

Weather is a combination of temperature, humidity, precipitation, cloudiness, visibility and wind.

7
Q

What is the difference between weather and climate?

A

Climate is the weather of a place that takes over for a longer time, usually more than 30 years. Meanwhile Weather can change in minutes or hours

Climate is affected by temperature and precipitation

Q

What are the differences between glacial and interglacial periods

A

GLACIAL PERIOD : when earth was frozen, temperature below 0 degree celcius

TODAY
INTERGLACIAL PERIOD : inter means between, SLIGHTLY WARMWER ( temperature above 0 degree celcius)

12
Q

How do scientists know the Earth was colder in the past?

A

GLACIERS ; are river of ice that move slowly downhill

The glaciers carry rocks with them, when glacier melts, the rock are left behind.

13
Q

POLLEN EVIDENCE FOR GLACIAL AND INTERGLACIAL PERIODS

A

WHEN PLANT DIE : they decay

Without oxygen and slightly acid, they decay very slow and form a peat bog

Different layer of peat represent different periods

BOG USUALLY IS FOUND AT A FRESHWATER SOFT SPONGY GROUND THAT IS MADE UP OF DECAYED PLANT MATTER WHICH IS KNOWN AS PEAT.

16
Q

What is the Atomic Theory by John Dalton?

A

1.All matter is made up of atoms
2. Atoms of an elements are identical
3.Each element has different atoms
4.Atoms can engage in a chemical reactions
5.Atoms can neither be created nor destroyed
6. Atoms are indivisible

17
Q

Describe the Model of Ernest Rutherford.

A

Atoms has a positively charged central part(nucleus). The electrons are distriputed around muscles. Mass of an atom is concentrated at nucleus. Compared with total volume of an atom, the volume of nucleus is meager

18
Q

Is carbon dioxide a pure element and Why?

A

No it is not. CO2 consist of more than one type of atom

19
Q

How are individual atoms held together

A

The electrostatic attraction between positive charge on the protons and negative charges on the electrons

20
Q

What is an alloy

A

a metal with 2 or more elements
