Body
Margin farthest away from MSP.
Adjacent to axilla.
Lateral Border (Axillary)
Top of scapula.
Superior Border (Upper)
Margin closest to MSP and spine.
Medial Border (Vertebral)
Notch on superior border close to lateral end.
Scapular Notch
Where the superior and medial borders meet.
Medial Angle
Where the medial and lateral borders meet.
Inferior Angle
Where the superior and lateral borders meet.
Forms the head of scapula.
Lateral Angle
Narrow ridge of bone that projects posteriorly from the dorsal surface of the body.
Spine
Flat rounded lateral end of the spine.
Unites with the clavicle to form AC joints.
Acromion
Poorly formed and slightly expanded lateral part of scapula.
Head
Oval depression on the lateral surface of the head of the scapula.
Where the head of humerus will fit to form the shoulder joint.
Glenoid Fossa
Slightly constricted part continuous with the upper part of body between the body and head.
Neck
Beak-like process projecting anteriorly from the anterior border of the neck of the scapula.
Under the clavicle.
Occasionally palpable.
Coracoid Process
Depression above the spine.
Supraspinatus Fossa
