What is the pathology of scaphoid fractures?

A

Most common carpal fracture (70%)
Often due to Fall Onto Outstretched Hand (FOOSH)
Common to least common parts of scaphoid- waist, prox pole, dist pole
Proximal pole has poor blood supply
Risk of Avascular Necrosis
