Q

How to estimate total population of daisies in a field

A
  • use random sampling
  • place 2 tape measures that are 20m in length
  • 2 bags, each bag contains the numbers 1-20
  • person 1 takes a number from the bag
    Eg 8
  • person moves to 8m on one of the tape measures
  • person 2 does the same eg 12
  • person 3 places quadrat at 8 by 12
  • students recorded number of daisies in first quadrat
  • repeat 9 times

Q

How to measure the effect of a factor on the destitution of a species

A
  • place a tape measure at the factor eg a tree
  • use quadrat to count number of daisies at start of transect
  • record light intensity at this point
  • live quadrat 1m down tape measure
  • repeat until tape measure covered

Q

Why is there a greater number of daisies away from the tree
