Salbutamol - Mechanism of Action
A bronchodilator.
Stimulator of beta-2 receptors.
Salbutamol - Indications
Bronchospasm secondary to asthma or CORD
Prominent bronchospasm secondary to airway burns or smoke inhalation or chest infection.
Release syndrome following crush injury.
Salbutamol - Contraindications
Known severe allergy.
Salbutamol - Cautions
None.
Salbutamol - Dosage
5mg. Only the initial dose combined with 0.5mg ipratropium.
Salbutamol - Common side effects
Tremor.
Tachycardia.
Salbutamol - Usual onset of effect
2 - 5 minutes
Salbutamol - Usual duration of effect
1 -2 hours

Ampoule containing 5mg in 2.5ml
Ampoule containing 2.5mg in 2.5ml
