Paracetamol - Mechanism of action

A

Inhibits the production of prostaglandins, resulting in a reduction of pain and fever.
It is metabolised in the liver.

A

Mild or moderate pain, usually in combination with other medicines.
May be administered with other medicines for severe pain if transport time is long.

A

Patient has taken paracetamol in last 4 hours.
Abdominal pain, esp if unwell or vomiting.

A

1.5g PO for adult greater than 80kg.
1 g PO for adult 80kg or less.
