Glucose Gel - Mechanism of Action
Provides a source of glucose that can be easily swallowed and is rapidly absorbed.
Absorbed in the stomach and small intestine.
Rapidly metabolised by cells.
Glucose Gel - Indications
Hypoglycaemia (if patient is conscious enough to swallow).
Hypoglycaemia in neonates.
Glucose Gel - Contraindications
None
Glucose Gel - Cautions
None.
Glucose Gel - Dosage
10 - 20g for all ages.
Administer one sachet and repeat every 10 mins if hypoglacemia persists or recurs.

None.

5-10 minutes
Glucose Gel - Duration of effect
30-60 minutes
Glucose Gel - Preparation
Sachet containing 10-20g of glucose
Glucose Gel - Repeats
Administer 1 sachet every 10 mins if required.
