Indications
A
- Acute Asthma
- Symptomatic Relief during maintenance treatment of asthma and COPD
- Exercise-induced Asthma

Dose Range
A
1-2 puffs (100-200mcg) as required, or 15 mins before exercise; repeat 3-4 times/d

SE’s
A
mostly due to effect of shifting K+ intracellularly, i.e. causing hypokalaemia:
- tremor
- palpitations, tachycardia
- hyperglycaemia (high doses)
- muscle cramps
- agitation
- hyperactivity in children
NB: SERIOUS HYPOKALAEMIA MAY OCCUR WITH HIGH DOSES OF BETA2-AGONISTS

Counselling
A
- Make sure that your doctor has given you an asthma management plan.
- Tell your doctor if you need to use this medicine in higher doses or more frequently than prescribed.
- Use a spacer with MDI.
- Regularly clean the plastic mouthpiece of your inhaler to prevent blockage of the nozzle.
