What is CMV?
Double stranded DNA virus
CMV Route of transmission:
direct contact with fluids (ex: blood, sex)
CMV Primary infection:
infection in seronegative patients
Can be congenital exposure in babies
CMV Secondary infection:
activation of a latent infection or reinfection
If CMV patient presents with: Pneumonia, Meningoencephalitis Graft failure (transplant) Viremia
Immunocompromised
If CMV patient presents with:
Retinitis
Polyradiculopathy
Colitis
HIV
If CMV patient presents with:
Thrombocytopenia/ hemolytic anemia
Mental retardation
Deafness
Congenital
If CMV patient presents with: Hepatitis GBS Myocarditis Maculopapular and rubelliform rash
