Q

As preflop aggressor vs BB - Board Texture

A
  • Consider how the board texture interacts with each positions range

AhKh3h
BTN vs CO, 3BP - Neither player has may flushes

AhKh9h
EP vs BB - IP don’t have many flushes. A/K blocks many of IP flushes. BB have tons (64hh, Q2hh)

Q

As preflop aggressor vs BB - Position

A
  • The nut advantage goes to the player with the most combos of super strong hands in the range.
  • AhKh9h - MP vs BB - BB has the nut advantage which means our betting frequency goes down, even though we have the range/equity advantage
  • 7h4h2h - MP vs BB - 80% Frequency. Board itself is blocking BB from having low suited hands (76hh, 54hh), thus we can c-bet wider (QTcc, T9cc, JTcc). MP have nut advantage
  • 7h4h2h - BTN vs BB - 55% Frequency. As ranges get wider (BTN vs BB) our global frequency goes down and we have to give up more of our air
  • AhKh9h - MP vs BB - 30% Frequency. C-betting hands like QhJx/QhTx, sometimes QJcc but never 65dd

Q

As the 3-Bettor In Position - BTN vs CO

A
  • Small c-bet sizes
  • On low boards, we bet less frequently. On boards with at least one broadway, we bet more frequently (similar to non-monotone boards)
  • SPR is much smaller in 3BPs, thus you willingness to get it in should be much higher
  • Build your strategy around how many suited hands your opponent should have based on the preflop positions/action

Q

Vs a 3-Bettor, Out ot Position - CO vs BTN

A
  • Simplify stragety and raise strong hands and draws
  • As SPR gets lowerm and as ranges get more narrow, be more willing sot get stacks in with hands lie sets or top two pair
  • It’s important to take each decision as it comes and not let fear of an uncertain future prevent you from making the best play at tat time

Q

As the 3-bettor Out of Postion - SB vs CO

A
  • We bet less frequently as the aggressor on low boards and more frequently on higher boards
  • When narrower ranges (3BP) are in play, flushes are less prevalent, sets and two pairs start to be considered strong hands
  • There are always exception, but these are simplifications
