Rule 3.2 Flashcards
What is rule 3.2
When SFTS can’t be achieved by limiting the work or work area following apply safety precautions shall be applied.
What is 3.2 #1
HV equipment ID by planning process / SAP
CP (O) 1 shall prepare and release from operational service
What is 3.2# 2
CP (O) 1 transfer control of HV equipment to CPS (S) 1 via SSC
What is 3.2 # 4
PE’s shall be applied within zone established by POI’s. WRP PE’s shall be locked.
What is 3.2 #5
When a single item or unit of HV equipment has been specifically designed to provide a combined isolation/earth function and where it is safe to do so PE may be applied within an isolated zone before POI established.
What is rule 3.2 # 6
- contents of HV equipment shall be adjusted to a level to avoid danger.
- If drain valves exists the SWP be locked in appropriate position
E.g - drain oil from divertor to gain access to contact and resistors
What is rule 3.2 # 7
Where danger could arise from pressurisation HV equipment shall be vented.
- emissions shall be dissipated so to avoid danger
- WRP vents shall be locked open.
- vent air from ABCB
What is rule 3.2 # 8
HV equipment shall be purged of dangerous contents if internal access is required if residue a danger.
- Emissions shall be dissipated to avoid danger. - Equipment shall be restored to atmosphere when purging is complete.
E.g - SF6 GIS work.
What is rule 3.2 # 9
when danger could arise from released stored energy
- action shall be taken to contain equalise or
- dissipate this energy safely.
SF6 equipment spring mechanism
What is rule 3.2 # 3
- CP(s)1 shall ensure equipment is isolated and POI established for work and where practicable locked.
What is rule 3.1
- Work to be carried out on or near to HV EQUIPMENT.
- SAP shall assess the means of achieving SFTS
- by limiting work or work area.
- instructions clearly defining the limitations shall be given
- when a SAP. Decides it is necessary to confirm these instructions in writing he shall consider a LAC
What is rule 3.3
When work on or near to HV equipment does not require the removal of PE’s
- PFW shall be issued
Rule 3.4
When work is essential to restore ROMP supplies for certain work , during a period a PFW is in force, following precautions shall be applied
- an Approved ROMP procedure shall be provided and observed, specified requirements necessary to maintain SFTS, during ROMP restored.
- no other PFW or SFW shall be in force on same items of HV equipment.
What is rule 3.5
When working on HV equipment requires the removal of primary earths, SFW shall be issued. provided SFTS is maintained the following precaution shall be applied
- The primary is that may be removed or placed during the work shall be identified
- Essential supplies which may be restored to enable the work to take place shall be defined and by an approved ROMP procedure
- Work shall be carried out in accordance an ASFW procedure
- No other PFW or SFW shall co-exist within the same zone established by points of isolation except under an approved procedure
What is rule 3.6
When danger from charged conductors could arise during the course of work, drain earths shall be applied.
- any portable drain earths shall be issued with the appropriate SD together with earthing schedule which shall specify the drains earth requirements for each stage of work
