3 P's - Philosophy Flashcards
1
Q
what is Philosophy 2.1
A
- 1
- electrical and mechanical equipment interconnected to form electromechanical systems
- systems contain inherent dangers
- but are design so that when operated normally they are safe
2
Q
what is Philosophy 2.2
A
- 2
- when work is to be carried out on, or near to these systems
- rules need to be specified to achieve safety from inherent dangers.
3
Q
what is Philosophy 2.3
A
- 3
- safety rules are based on a philosophy that persons are protected from inherent dangers
- this is achieved by making them safe from the system.
4
Q
what is Philosophy 2.4
A
- 4
- the rules define procedures and responsibilities for achieving safety of persons from the inherent dangers.
A - making available the equipment concerned for work
B - establish safe work conditions for work
- achieved by either limiting the scope of work or
- isolation from the system.
- specialised procedures will be applied when the work has to be done on equipment which remains energised.
C - authorised the commencement of work
D - receive authority to commence work, executing the work, supervising safety during the work and clearing the authority when work is terminated.
E - cancelling the authority on termination
F - restore system to normal
5
Q
what is Philosophy 2.5

- further dangers are those arising for the environment which persons undertake work
- the way in which these dangers are managed shall be specified in management procedures
6
Q
what is Philosophy 2.6
A
- 6
- rule supported by NSI ( national safety instructions).
- guidance notes
