You are recovering to Valley for a PAR. What should your first radio call to Valley Approach be?
Approach reply by saying “V**, Valley Approach, squawk 3741.”
What should you respond with?
“Valley Approach, VYT** for instrument recovery with [ATIS]”
“3741, V**, [position], [height], [heading], request radar vectors for PAR, request Deconfliction service.”
You are downwind for a PAR and intend to touch and go to join the visual cct. You have a white rating.
ATC say “V**, vectoring for PAR runway 13, procedure minimum 2-5-0ft”
What should you respond with?
“4-5-0ft to touch and go to join the visual cct.”
You intercept the ILS localiser. What should you tell ATC?
At Valley, what are they likely to do at this point?
“V**, localiser established”
They will likely tell you to contact talkdown.
You intercept the glidepath on an ILS. What should you tell ATC?
“Glidepath Descending, gear down.”
You have just overflown the fix following a join to the TACAN hold. What should you tell ATC?
“V**, established in the hold.”
You are on the last lap of the TACAN hold before starting the arc.
What do you need to tell ATC?
When do you transmit this?
“V**, approaching Point A for the procedure.”
Transmit this once established inbound on the hold radial with range reducing.
(Technically you can be within 30 degrees of the inbound radial).
You reach the final approach fix on a TACAN approach. What are your actions and RT transmission?
Set 3 degrees nose down and select flap to DOWN and Trim!
Once settled in the descent, transmit:
“V**, final approach fix, gear down.”
