do we use titanium for dentures and RPD?
not really
usually just for dental implants
what are advantages of CP titanium?
low weight to volume
high strength to weight
high fatigue
high corrosion resistance

what is the composition of CO-CR alloy?
30% CR, 60% co
CO CR
what is the significance of the density of the material?
low density means that you will have more casting force required.
why does titanium need more casting force?
because it has low density. it needs more casting forces
what would be an indication for using a low density metal?
a large maxillary framework will have improved retention if the weight of the framework can be reduced.
WHAT MATERIALS have the highest yield strength?
base metals
what is MOE?
rigidity.
what does rigidity have to do with retention?
the more rigid, the less retention required.
so it’s .01 for base metals vs. .02-.03 for AU and titanium! makes sense
why might the hardness of base metals be an issue?
it may affect the opposing dentition if it is not highly polished.
what materials have the best ease of adjustment?
AU and titanium of course because they’re lighter
what material has the best ease of soldering?
AU

can you use ALL materials with wrought wire?
YES
why might NI - CR be an issue?
because 15% of women are allergic to this
