roger’s psychology
self actualizing theory
roger’s summary
rogers believed that personality is an expression of your sense of self. in health, your true self is congruent, or overlaps with the ideal version of yourself. this sense of self is based on how well we have felt loved and supported, so environmental/social influences are the most important. this is mainly our close interpersonal relationships. in unhealth, there is incongruence, or no overlap between our true and ideal self. the final goal is to be a fully functioning person, which happens when we self actualize and develop congruence
