social and cultural influences shape personality, especially in childhood. this includes your environment and interpersonal relationships. basic anxiety is formed when a person feels vulnerable and hostility is felt. everyone has psychological needs to feel loved and secure, and neurosis happens when these needs are not met. personality traits form when self protecting tactics turn into trends, which become stable traits.
