needs-heirarchy theory
maslow’s summary
maslow believed that personality and behavior was motivated by meeting needs, and more specifically a hierarchy of needs. There are five stages of needs, and the lower ones must be fulfilled in order to work on fulfilling the next ones. The final stage is actualization, which many will never reach.

(maslow)
1. physical
2. safety
3. love and belonging
4. esteem
5. self actualization

-food, water, sex…
-consistently recurring
-takes up all of our attention when not met

(maslow)
safety needs
-physical, financial, security safety…
-likely never fully satisfied
