He promised Americans a chicken in every pot.

Relief- gave temporary help to the suffering of the Americans
Recovery- designed to help the economy bounce back from the depression.
Reform- targeted the causes of the depression and ways to prevent it from suffering again.
What were the major programs?
- Public working programs- built highways, bridges, parks, schools etc
- Federal Emergency relief program- gave small amounts of money
Did the programs work?
They slowed the depression down, but they did not end it.
Where was the worst drought mainly in?
Oklahoma (Great Plains)
During the depression why did he do very little to combat it?
He believed that if you let it run its course then it would be over soon.
