Britain is fighting a bunch of wars against France and Spain
- King william’s war - France vs everyone
- Queen Anne’s war - war of spanish succession
- King George’s war - austrian succession - no women rulers!
-seven years war - 1754- 1763 - the year we started hating britain - our senior prom

Seven Years war

A

AKA french and indian war, claimed to be started by george washington - war begins with french victories, washington rides his horse in the middle of cross fire, british power finally defeat the french, britain wins and gets land, french lose everything

Colonies in 1763

A

Britain has a lot of debt, resentment at the colonies because of war, british troops are put in colonies - you gotta pay, quartering acts - you gotta pay, taxes, focus on virginia - if virginia wants to pass its own laws okay sure, if they want to pass a law that changes an existing law it has to be agreed by the king

A

colonies can’t print their own money, if you want money it comes from the bank of london

A

raises the cost of sugar, makes sugar, molasses, and rum more money, if you want to smuggle sure but the britain navy is going after you - trial in london judge gets more if your guilty

what were the effects taxes?

A

lots of protesting - NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION, start going after stamp collectors and tar and feather them, threatening the governor and his buddies, britain gets rid of the stamp and sugar act but what we says goes - stop protesting

A

march 7, 1770, 5 people died - propaganda, months of friction, the people threw sticks and rocks at the soldiers and they open fire, crispus attucks is first to die, troops withdraw from the city, john adams is the only person willing to defend the people that threw the stones, paul revere makes the fancy scary photo
