What are ‘social services’ or ‘children’s services’ and what do they do?
- Try to keep the family unit together, working with the family and the children to give them the support that they need.
- A legal duty to investigate and decide appropriate action if it suspects that a child is not receiving the care that is expected from a parent or is likely to cause significant harm.
What happens when parents fail in their responsibilities?
Local authority may step in
What legal duty to married couples have?
Duty to care, support and protect each other.
