What is alanto-axial subluxation?

A

Often complication of RA
tendons in cervical spine weakened by tenosynovitis
odontoid peg subluxes backwards
slowly causes progressive spastic tetraparesis, sudden inhibits vagus nerve and can cause cardiac arrest
