RG BD+C: MPR (pages 27-30) Flashcards
LEED Reference Guide for Buildings & Construction MPR (Minimum Program Requirements)
Minimum Program Requirements (MPRs)
minimum characteristics or conditions that make a project appropriate to pursue LEED certification.
What are the (3) MPRs?
- MUST BE IN A PERMANENT LOCATION ON EXISTING LAND
(cannot be a project that moves like a boat or motor home. Also implies the land cannot be artificial land mass that can disrupt natural ecosystems) - MUST USE REASONABLE LEED BOUNDARIES
(the LEED rating system is designed to evaluate buildings, spaces, or neighborhoods, and all environmental impacts associated with those projects, so defining a reasonable LEED boundary ensures that the project is accurately evaluated) - MUST COMPLY WITH PROJECT SIZE REQUIREMENTS
Project size requirements for LEED BD+C and LEED O+M Rating Systems? (new and existing buildings)
a minimum of 1,000 square feet (93 square meters) of gross floor area
Project size requirements for LEED ID+C Rating Systems?
interiors
a minimum of 250 square feet (22 square meters) of gross floor area.
Project size requirements for LEED for Neighborhood Development Rating Systems?
should contain at least two habitable buildings and be no larger than 1500 acres
Project size requirements for LEED for Homes Rating Systems?
The LEED project must be defined as a “dwelling unit” by all applicable codes. This requirement includes, but is not limited to, the International Residential Code stipulation that a dwelling unit must include “permanent provisions for living, sleeping, eating, cooking, and sanitation.”
The gross floor area of the LEED project should be no less than ____% of the gross land area within the LEED
project boundary.
(as described in the MPR “Reasonable LEED Boundaries”)
