Revise 2 Flashcards
What is the Bohr shift?
Increase in CO2 or decrease in pH shifts normal O2 dissociation curve to right
What is the aorta connected to & what does it do?
Left ventricle
Carries oxygenated blood to body except lungs
How do arteries even out blood pressure?
Elastic tissue stretches when blood moves through at high pressure then recoils as blood pressure drops
What is the vena cava connected to & what does it do?
Right atrium
Bring deoxygenated blood back from tissues of body(except lungs)
Label heart circuit

What is diastole?
Both atria and ventricles relax. The pressure in the arteries is now higher than the ventricles so the SL valves shut. Blood starts to enter the atria from the veins. Cycle restarts
